Summer 2008 Trials

Arrow says, "It's only 8:30 am and already 90 degrees! The CAT USDAA regional was too hot!

Now we're in the shade at Barb White's arena in Turner, OR for a Fleet Feet CPE trial

It was cooler in the morning at Brownsville for the WAG USDAA trial.

We ate at Fireworks Restaurant in Corvallis - here is Maya, the wood-fired clay oven.
She makes excellent food and serves as a metaphor for the summer's heat! The CAT Wilsonville CPE trial was so hot I pulled Arrow after the first run and there are no pictures.
Next summer - fewer trials for us!

BAAD USDAA trial 6/2008

Here we are camped out at the Crook County Fairgrounds in Prineville, Oregon. "The Mobile Hovel" is a small vintage trailer we bought from a friend for $750.

Here are some of the Bend Action Agility Dogs who put on a great trial every June.
Here is proof of Arrow's first tournament qualifier (4th place!) and our collection of ribbons from the weekend - we love Prineville!

April 2008 CAT CPE trial

I was chief scorer at this trial, helped by Carol, Eric, Judy, Kathy and others. Here
is the scoring room hard at work, crunching numbers and trying to deflect questions.

Judy completed two C-ATCH's (Canine Agility Trial Champion)Here she is with Alphie and Oreo, her two Papillons. Judy's nephew, Paul is also pictured, he is part of Judy's "pit crew".

Here is my Arrow going through the tire and asking, " these weaves?"

Space Dogs and More

You can find info on Laika and other space animals at:

My first blog!

Monument to Laika, 1st living thing to orbit the Earth

This blog is about my Large Munsterlanders and stuff we do
- agility, hunting, having fun.

Large Munsterlanders are a breed of versatile hunting dog
(hunt, point, retrieve) that originated in Northwest Germany
in the late 1800's.

Why are dogs such a big part of my life?
(Or - why are dogs not an important part of everybody's life?)

I can only answer for me. I was born on November 3, 1957
at about 5:30 pm (Central Standard Time).
Laika, a stray dog found on the streets of Moscow,
was launched into space that day,
becoming the first living thing to orbit the Earth.
